Sanaz Majd, Edward Ferrer and Their Twin Daughters Are Happy to Call Carlsbad Home
“We’ve lived in many areas of the country, and even outside of the United States, and we feel that Carlsbad is by far the most charming and beautiful city in the world to live in and raise a family,” stated Sanaz Majd. She and her husband, Edward (Eddie) moved to Aviara in 2010, but Sanaz has deep roots in the community – she graduated from Carlsbad High in 1994, and her parents and sisters currently live in La Costa. The family is thrilled to live so close to family and to reside in a community that has so many activities geared towards young families. “Our twin daughters, Chloe and Laila, just turned two this past December,” revealed Eddie.
Sanaz and Eddie are family medicine physicians who see adults and children in an outpatient setting in Vista while Eddie also performs vasectomies as a side-practice in Encinitas. When the twins were born, Sanaz and Eddie changed their career arrangements so that they are both able to work part-time while sharing a medical practice. “We take turns working – each of us works half of the week – and share a very kind panel of patients who get to know both of us and benefit from having two sets of eyes and minds taking care of their health,” related Sanaz, who also hosts a weekly medical podcast. This flexible schedule allows whichever parent is not working to be home with Chloe and Laila.

Sanaz and Eddie are college sweethearts who met at UCSD and have been together ever since, even when geography was not in their favor. “Eddie and I are from two completely different cultures, languages and backgrounds, but we are like two peas in a pod. We stayed together despite attending different medical schools and maintained a long distance relationship for years. We are truly best friends and are so much alike in our thinking and values. This is what’s kept our relationship so strong,” explained Sanaz. In fact, one of the lessons that she and Eddie hope to instill in their children is that people of different backgrounds can actually be quite similar.
When it comes to having fun, the Majd/Ferrer family has it dialed in. Eddie is a gifted artist, Sanaz enjoys photography, and the girls love reading, music and dancing. “We dance in our living room as a family each night. Our girls love music, as do we, and they are already quite the dancers,” said Eddie.
