The Pacific Ridge School Boys’ Varsity Basketball team, consisting of students from Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Rancho Santa Fe, took part in their annual holiday meal delivery to La Posada de Guadalupe, a shelter for homeless men and farm workers, in January. The team arrived to the shelter for the fourth time with trays full of food, and got to talk with the men there to learn more about their backgrounds. “The boys jumped right into it,” said Basketball Coach Chris Burman. “It’s a way for them to see that they can have a positive impact locally, right here within our community.”

The team also traveled to Tijuana over the summer to host a basketball clinic in an underserved community there, where they taught basic basketball skills to over 30 children and played friendly scrimmages against local basketball clubs. Community service is built into the curriculum at Pacific Ridge, giving students the opportunity to work on causes they are passionate about. Learn more at
